Who we are

What we’re up against

The opioid epidemic continues to be one the most devastating public health emergencies in the United States, driven largely by the spread of illicit fentanyl. In 2022, nearly 108,000 people died from drug overdoses, with approximately 82,000 (76%) involving opioids—many of them linked to fentanyl, a synthetic opioid up to 50 times stronger than heroin. For youth 10–19 years old, fentanyl-related deaths increased by 113% in 2020 compared to 2019. Fentanyl-related deaths among children increased more than 30-fold between 2013 and 2021.

Lacey’s Mission

Project Lacey is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to ending drug-related opioid overdose deaths, with a strong focus on the growing threat of fentanyl. We provide distribution of and training to the community on how to administer naloxone, as well as distribution and education on fentanyl test strips. Our approach goes beyond emergency response—we advocate for continued support and treatment after an overdose to help individuals recover.

Lacey’s Vision

Fentanyl Doesn’t Have to Be a Death Sentence. We envision a world where no life is lost to fentanyl. Everyone—especially youth—should have access to prevention education, fentanyl-specific harm reduction tools like naloxone and test strips, and continued support through treatment after an overdose. Prevention, response, and recovery must go hand in hand to save lives and build healthier communities.
